Slo Pony Adventures is the first Joint Venture Company licensed in Vietnam for outdoor rock climbing and adventure travel. We are a dynamic combination of Vietnamese and foreign employees whose goal is to provide unique exciting adventures in the Ha Long Bay area. Our programs go unmatched and our ideals remain higher than the mountains we climb!
Rock Climbing: Years of passion and determination coupled with numerous proposals, presentations, and meetings with Vietnamese authorities have opened the doors to the beautiful sport of rock climbing in one of the most astounding geological areas of the world. Our crew of local climbing experts takes pride in our responsibility to manage the sustainable development, bolting, safety, maintenance, and environmentalism required to rock climbing in Ha Long Bay.
Maintaining the highest level of standards, we promote dynamic rock climbing adventures in Vietnam while minimizing our impact on the environment and giving back in socially responsible ways. We are a hub of honest and ethical information for beginner through professional climbers eager to explore Ha Long Bay’s labyrinth of limestone cliffs and islands for rock climbing.
Adventures: Over the years, many travelers have come asking us to create new ideas for adventure travel in our area. The demand has sparked the design of new excursions such as kayaking through caves and hidden lagoons, trekking in unexplored areas, beach parties, and more. Being adventurers ourselves, we strive to keep our trips authentic, fresh, and unique. We keep away from the mundane routine of strict itineraries leaving room for surprise, wonder, and exploration.
Giving Back: Slo Pony Adventures employs underprivileged Vietnamese without the opportunity even to finish high school. We lead by example and teach them valuable professional skills as well as English. Conversely, our Vietnamese employees provide cross-cultural life lessons to our foreign staff. The trade-off is monumental resulting in a eclectic team of well-rounded dynamic individuals.
Slo Pony Adventures sponsors micro-lending projects for the local people of Lien Minh and Cat Ba Island. Our financing and subsequent business mentoring has opened doors of opportunity for financially disadvantaged people while boosting the economy of Cat Ba Island.
Slo Pony Adventures also works hand-in-hand with the Cat Ba National Park in the effort to save the critically endangered primate, The Cat Ba Langur, from extinction. Using our climbing skills, we set up rope systems for National Park zoologists and veterinarians to access the homes of the Langurs in caves high on the limestone cliffs and mountains of Cat Ba Island. Once access is possible, the National Park can tag, study, and monitor these extremely rare and exotic monkeys.
Our mission in Vietnam is to offer travelers the most unique experiences using the natural environment in a sustainable way. We measure our success through the positive influence we have on others and by the minimal impact we leave on our surroundings.
